Dr. Hsiu‐Chuan Liao

This course deals with issues of language endangerment and documentary linguistics. In this course, students will acquire some basic skills that are required to undertake the crucial task of documenting endangered and/or underdocumented languages. Students will learn how to prepare for the field, to obtain funding, to record data, to design orthographies, to process texts, and to develop dictionaries and grammars.
